What is an Estate Plan?
It has been said that an estate plan is the greatest gift you can give your loved ones. An estate plan can lay out your wishes and directives, so that when you are unable to speak for yourself, due to whatever reason that may arise, your loved ones are not worried about making the wrong decisions or fighting over your belongings after you pass.
An estate plan can include many different parts based on your families needs. This includes your last will and testament, medical directives (a.k.a. living wills), guardianship arrangements for those who rely upon your care, and trusts.
It is the case that everyone already has an estate plan even if they do not realize it. If a person does not create their own estate plan, the state government has statutes that direct the court system on how to disperse your assets and tend to your dependents.
