FREE WILL!

In Kentucky you can actually write your own will for free and it will be admissible in court! This is known as a "holographic will" and must follow a few simple rules; (1) the will must be in your own handwriting, the old fashioned way with ink and paper; (2) it must be signed and dated in your own handwriting. And that's it!

It doesn't matter what it is written on, how long it is, or even if it is witnessed. Of course have at least one witness, who doesn't receive a benefit of any kind from the will, or a notary, or a better yet a combination thereof, will only add support to the will but the law does not require it. As long as you state your intentions clearly, and follow the 2 rules, you're good to go!

However, these wills are the easiest to fight against in court, for a variety of issues, so as a general rule, I always recommend seeking out the advice of a trusted attorney to provide you with the most applicable advice to secure your wishes.
